FAQ

How is the result decided?

The PawnPot oracle reads the official chess.com record after the game ends. No client-side trust. Winner is whatever chess.com says.

What if someone cheats with Stockfish?

Pots are held for 24-48h after the game ends. If chess.com closes either account for fair play violations during that window, the entire pot goes to the other player.

Is this gambling? Is it legal?

Chess is a pure skill game. In most jurisdictions skill games are exempt from gambling regulation. Some US states (AZ, AR, FL, IL and others) restrict skill-based real-money play. Check your local rules.

Will my chess.com account get banned?

The extension only reads from the page locally. It doesn't move pieces, doesn't query engines, doesn't send any unusual traffic to chess.com. We minimize identifying data on-chain by hashing game IDs and usernames.

What's the fee?

4% of the total pot. Pre-launch this may be lower for early users.

Why Solana?

Sub-cent transaction fees and 1-second confirmation. Anything else would eat into small stakes.
